Everything about Birmingham Post totally explained
The
Birmingham Post newspaper was originally published under the name
Daily Post in
Birmingham,
England in
1857 by
John Frederick Feeney. It is the largest selling
broadsheet in the
West Midlands region, though it faces little if any competition in this category. The paper stopped issuing
advertisements on its
front page in
1946 and started replaced it with front page news.
The 16-storey
Post and Mail office tower block, designed by
John Madin, was opened in
1965 to accommodate the
Post and
Evening Mail newspapers, but the main tower was demolished in 2006. The original design saw the concrete building surrounded by trees and grass but this was never implemented. The Post and its sister titles are due to relocate to the restored
Fort Dunlop building, three miles out of the city centre, in August 2008.
After changing hands many times, the newspaper is now part of the
Trinity Mirror group.
